Alaskan Arctic Expeditions

Clean sweep for Kennel My Alaskan

The Danish Polar Breed Club has held its first double Club show – named the  Polar Gold Cup.
The aim was to make this event special in every way – and it certainly was. Breeds attending was Alaskan Malamute, Siberian Husky, Samoyed Dog and Greenland Dog.

Judges: the club had invited 2 experienced breed specialists.

Bob Eisele from the US – whom is a board member in the American Sibirian Husky Club since 2000 and is an active and successful breeder of Sibirian Huskies for more than 30 years.

Pierluigi Buratti from Italy – whom besides from breeding Samojeds for more than 30 years also acts as the Italian Sleddog Clubs representative in  FCI’s Sled Dog Commission.

The Alaskan Malamutes had a rather large entry of 65 dogs both days – from babies 3-6 months til Veteran Class.

As something new the club had also invited the Danish Weight Pull Club – to come and introduce our breed to this sport. They brought in a wagon and harnesses. This was the first time these guys experienced Alaskan Malamute pulling powers – and they were VERY impressed. Most of our dogs pulled more than 15 times their body weight – and as a NOVICE  pull they would have earned their the first leg for the AMCA working dog title if they had pulled competitively. So that is very nice!

The Club show ended Sunday afternoon with a Supreme BIS Win – This years winer was a Sibirian Husky.

The Alaskan Malamute winners were:

Judge Pierluigi Buratti: BOB My Alaskan Polar Quest and BOS My Alaskan Winter Dream

Judge Bob Eisele: BOB DKCH. Juneau´s Drifting Ice and BOS DKCH. My Alaskan Winter Dream

our babies whom are now 6 months did also do very well and had lots of fun

_____________________________________________________________________________________________
At the double show in the Danish Polar Breed Club My Alaskan Winter Dream became Best Of Opposite both days in a large entry – becoming new Danish Champion and winning her first Club CAC

Not Outdone by her brother My Alaskan Polar Quest taking BOB on saturday and taking res.best male on Sunday and  My Alaskan Icy Cougar going 3. best male on saturday (not shown on sunday)

But our biggest brag though has to be about DKCH Snocribs Aniu Ò Onak – this was the first time we did a progeny group with Aniu – and she won it.  We are very proud of this girl – with only two litters since 2008 - she produced:  9 champions, 1 international champion and 2 Best in Show Winners

Our latest addition to the kennel My Alaskan Breaking Trail has also had a very succesfull start in the show ring....and wins Reserve Best in Show Baby at international show in Danish Club Vejen over a large entry of babies.

we are very excited about his future - but we are also very excited about the fact that our kennel has succeded in motivation our puppy buyers to be good and responsible Alaskan Malamute owners - providing our dogs good homes with a lot of love and activity.
Winning prizes is nice and as a breeder it is a huge compliment -  but it is the fact that our pups grows up to be sound and happy dogs that gives us the biggest thrill of all.

Summertime

summertime

we wish all our friends a great summer

Puppy Play Day

click on picture to read more .....The pups from Kaiyuh and Ice are now 15 weeks old

here are some pictures from our latest puppy play day

a puppy play day is cosy get together - the pups are playing and training and the owners are trained as well +  we talk about puppy life and share experience + correct feedings - behavior etc.

Because we meet on a regular basis the first year - our puppy owners learn how to deal with everyday life of this breed and we clear off the most critical issues in advance before they become a permanent problem.

With this breed lots of people look at the cute puppy and dont take into consideration that it grows very big and strong and develop a VERY independent and confident nature. So heavy training with the puppy is an absolute necessity - and knowing what to expect will help you plan your training and understand how this breed will charm you and blind you with his cute cute face.

our next breeding

We are planning our our next breeding..... dam will be DKCH DKV DKNV VDHJC VDHEV My Alaskan Winter Dream aka Aoife

hips A/B
elbows clear

we think the mating will take place february 2013 - we take reservations for this litter now.

If this is your first Alaskan Malamute please consider this is not a breed for everybody - therefore if you wish to get a puppy from our kennel you must be a mature and calm person - have a fenced garden. Life out doors is a pleasure to you - you have the time and the will to learn about this breed regarding both benefits and limitations and you plan to live actively with your dog(S) and accept the fact that living with an Alaskan Malamute demands you to always be 2 step ahead and that you always must stay humble about the incredible power this breed is presenting. Read more below

We have our own Malamute Education Plan

You must be part of at least 2 long walks in the woods with the adult dogs
You must be part of our 3 hour introduction to Active Malamute life
You must read the book of Irene Jarnved "fra hvalp til voksen" + our AM manual
You must be part of our 4 x 3 hour lecture on how to live with the AM
You must be part of our 4 x 3 hour puppy meetings once the pup is living with you

If you already now is thinking "wow this is too much" please do not consider buying a Alaskan Malamute
because this is nothing compared to what living with the dog will require of you EVERY day the rest of its life!

Also if you think " I dont need education - it is just a dog" please take a minut to browse "den blå avis" to see  how many other owners got defeated by this breeds combo of  intelligense and power - there is only one looser to this THE DOG... at Kennel My Alaskan we do not want this to happen to any of our dogs...so if you dont feel like this is your style - our kennel is not the right place for you to buy your dog.

This sounds harsh - we know - but we have our puppies close to our hearts - and therefor we dont want nothing but the best homes for our puppies. Experience shows that the best homes are the ones willing to engage in both activities and education.

this is Aoife as a cute puppy
